The Pros and Cons of a Lemon Detox Diet

The cayenne pepper diet, or the Lemon Detox Diet, is basically composed of lemon juice, cayenne pepper and maple syrup. This Lemon Detox Diet aims to help anyone lose weight and generate more energy in a span of 10 days. This lemonade diet recipe is also known as Master Cleanse Diet, as this diet promotes a type of cleansing that does not allow you to eat any type of food so that the digestive system is thoroughly cleaned out.

The Lemon Detox Diet mixture can be taken as a cold drink or a hot tea and it contains a significant amount of essential minerals and vitamins. The lemon cleanse diet is often referred to as a fasting method more than a diet plan. It is basically designed to eliminate the toxins and congestion inside the body. When a person undergoes a Lemon Detox Diet, he or she is prescribed to take a laxative tea twice daily, in the mornings and evenings. This tea should consist of 32 oz of warm water with sea salt. The laxative mixture works inside your body system, from 30 to 60 minutes to fully cleanse your body.

Experts recommend that this type of regimen be observed for at least 10 days. However, there are people who stick with the Lemon Detox Diet for longer periods of time. In cases where you break the fasting, you will need to return to the diet slowly to avoid a dumping syndrome, wherein the solid foods that you consume will be trapped and congested in the digestive tract and can eventually plug up the digestive system.

When you are considering getting off the diet, you will be required to drink a lot of full strength juices for several days and slowly add soup, vegetables and nuts before returning back to your regular everyday diet. A person who has undergone this diet may wish to add a probiotics drink or supplement to ensure that he or she will develop a healthy mucus lining in his or her intestines.

There have been serious concerns and warnings that the Lemon Detox Diet lacks protein, vitamins and mineral sources. There are some people who will likely experience delirium, fainting and dizziness while on a cayenne pepper diet. There is not much scientific evidence or proof that will support the claim that the body will be damaged from such long-term fasting. Such occurrence of fainting and dizziness are side-effects of the diet and will eventually pass once the person gets used to the routine.

Some have also claimed that the salt water that is mixed into the drink might flush out both the good and bad bacteria from the body, and this may cause constipation because the intestines might stop and avert the passage of food right through it. This is why it’s important that you strictly follow the directions of the diet to end the fasting in a gradual manner. Although it has been contested by a lot of its pioneers that this diet is a contributory method in losing significant body weight, a lot of people still argue that it works otherwise. And many of them who have undergone the fasting had considerably gained back their previous body weight.
